We are looking for a talented and impact-oriented engineer that specialises in Machine Learning to join us. Kalido has to tackle a number of unique, challenging NLP problems unsolved by off-the-shelf models, which required us to delve into cutting-edge NLP research to find techniques that would help solve our problems.

In this role, you will be responsible for the NLP engine that allows Kalido to intelligently connect skilled people anywhere, anytime, for any purpose. We move fast (but thoughtfully) and you’ll also have a real opportunity to shape the company, and our collective ability to impact the world. You’ll also be able (and encouraged) to publish the results of any work you do that is not commercially sensitive.

As part of a startup, your responsibilities will vary, but on a day to day basis, you will:

  • Apply analytical theory to real-world problems on large and dynamic datasets, your insights will not stop at data and calculations but will bridge from numerical insight to business objectives
  • Process and reproducibly model large sets of data
  • Be hands-on in identifying problems in data and improving the quality of data using tools and data labeling techniques
  • Define quality metrics for the data and model performance (including user feedback and other live metrics)
  • Work in tandem with Machine Learning Engineers to build and improve the tools to train, monitor and analyse model performance and data quality
  • Propose technical solutions and strategies to business challenges in a self-driven environment
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging existing data to drive solutions
  • Work with other teams to understand the current data and opportunities for collecting more in the context of ML and predictive modeling
  • Develop statistical models and algorithms to tackle new use cases
  • Propose new training tasks and strategies to improve existing models
  • Provide input into future data science strategy and product development
  • Provide guidance and feedback to other design and development teams to improve the quality of user experiences through better data feedback systems
  • Mentor junior data scientists by providing technical and theoretical guidance

This opportunity is for you if you are:

  • Creative and delivery-focused, especially in data-scarce environments
  • Passionate about mathematics and statistics, with proven track record of data science related work
  • Able to rapidly and effectively translate business challenges into data pipelines & models
  • Experienced with multiple ML techniques such as deep neural networks, transformers and recommender models
  • Good grasp of various python ML libraries such as tensorflow, pytorch, sklearn, numpy and numba
  • Equipped with programming skills to self-sufficiently manipulate, analyse, synthesise, and visualise data in e.g. matplotlib, plotly, bokeh, pandas
  • Experienced in the design and usage of relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Experienced with testing frameworks (e.g.PyTest)
  • Experience in Tableau or other data analytics tools is a bonus
